Henry Folkersen, Author
Henry Folkersen was born in Copenhagen Denmark during the second world war, and childhood memories of the German occupation will be with him until he dies. The family moved to Oslo Norway in 1954, but Henry, in the manner of true Vikings, went to England at age eight to live with a British family for a year. He still speaks with a distinct British accent, and many insist that he sounds like Sean Connery.. The family reunited in Denmark, but in 1951 Henry’s dad was offered a position in Toronto Ontario with Alcan, a company where he had been a senior administrator before the war.
Henry progressed from being an engineer to a commercial real estate developer and with his wife and two children moved to Florida in 1978, where they now have interests in various commercial properties ranging from a shopping center to a cell phone tower and restaurants. His love of sailing brought many adventures, including being shipwrecked in a storm in the Bahamas. He and his wife now live in Tampa, where they share a splendid life with their daughter, Suzanne, a CPA and a corporate executive, and son, Jeff, a marketing specialist with a national firm. They enjoy their eight grand children and they all share a fully restored C&C sailboat that they sail out of St. Petersburg marina. Henry has also written The Viking Way to Power based on the legend of Gefion.
